Villa Crystal Springs, an enchanting seaside villa, is a testament to the island’s historic grandeur. Its elegant façade, stylish décor and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea create a theatrical ambiance, yet the impressive villa innately feels like a welcoming, comfortable home.

Set on 1.7 acres on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the estate features stunning tropical foliage, vibrant flora and mature trees. A natural gully runs through the property, and a secluded white sandy cove sits just below the main house, lapped by calm azure waters. The 12,000 sq ft residence comprises six exquisite buildings connected by coral stone terraces and pathways; each offers delightful space for relaxing and entertaining. With 10 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, Villa Crystal Springs is the ideal villa for large groups, families and corporate gatherings.

Built in the 1940’s, Villa Crystal Springs was meticulously redesigned in the 1960’s by famed Oliver Messel, who after establishing a successful career in stage and film design, turned his hand to architecture with considerable renown both in Barbados and the nearby island of Mustique. His theatrical style, characterized by grand archways, pillars and elegant finishes, emphasized outdoor living space, taking full advantage of the beautiful tropical settings that surrounded the homes. Villa Crystal Springs is no exception; a true Messel masterpiece, it has an indelible spirit and charm that sets it apart as one of the most captivating residences on the island.

After purchasing the home in 2013, the present owners have lovingly restored Villa Crystal Springs to her original splendour, revitalizing her spirit as Messel first envisioned it, and paying homage to the villa’s architectural significance as one of his most stunning creations. The team involved in the restoration was primarily Barbadian; local experts, artisans and craftsmen ensured the home’s historic integrity was maintained, and the few new additions blend effortlessly with the original structures. Most of the original furnishings have been refurbished, now artfully combined with specially commissioned local artwork to create a sophisticated take on Caribbean style.

The 10 en suite bedrooms at Villa Crystal Springs sleep up to 20 people comfortably. There are two sets of communicating suites and the Tea House features both a king and two twin Murphy beds, ideal for young families. All suites are luxuriously appointed with pristine 100% white cotton linens, elegant furnishings and local artwork. The rooms are light and airy, with enchanting views to the sea, gully and gardens through large windows framed by billowing floor to ceiling curtains. Built-in cupboards provide ample closet space. The rooms are fitted with Jambox speakers by Jawbone and most feature flat screen televisions. Every bedroom has both ceiling fans and air-conditioning. The en suite bathrooms are finished with imported Italian marble and feature pampering touches such as seersucker robes, Acqua Di Parma toiletries and blow dryers. Four bathrooms feature open-air showers and most have incredible views of the gully or Caribbean Sea.

The Annex, located adjacent to the main house, suspends over the secluded white sandy cove and gully. Its oceanfront terrace features an intimate bar area. A private stairway leads down to the beach, and at high tide, the water laps the bottom steps, allowing you to literally step right into the Caribbean Sea. The cove is a delightful spot to sunbathe and enjoy water sports, including stand-up paddle boarding, Sunfish sailing and snorkeling. Villa Crystal Springs is one of the few private homes with a cordoned-off swimming area, making it safe to enjoy the beautiful waters. The home also has an 18’ speedboat equipped for waterskiing and other aquatic excursions; the boat master can also arrange diving lessons and equipment rentals. Should you desire a good stretch or deep meditation, just below the Annex is an ideal terrace for yoga, looking out to sea with the verdant gully as the backdrop.

The heated infinity swimming pool, finished in a stunning blue Bisazza mosaic tile imported from Italy, is lined with inviting chaise loungers. The mosaic tiles reflect the sparkling sunlight, and the infinity edge offers a window to the sea, where catamarans gracefully sail by. Relax in the shade with a favourite cocktail in hand, or accept the water’s invitation to take a dip beneath the midday sun.

On the rare rainy afternoon or chosen evening in, enjoy films on the big screen in the newly furbished state of the art home theatre. Decorated with an array of memorable film posters, it provides the ideal setting for watching both new and old classics, complete with state of the art surround sound and leather reclining chairs. The property also has an ultramodern fitness centre outfitted with Technogym equipment, for those who wish to keep up their workout routines.

The staff at Villa Crystal Springs has been with the estate for years; the butlers, cook (with assistant), boatmaster, housekeepers and laundresses will ensure your stay surpasses every expectation, providing attentive, yet unobtrusive service. Guests can also visit the butler’s pantry, offering easy access to that essential morning cup of coffee, snacks and other necessities. There are also guards on hand to ensure security from dusk to dawn. The property manager is on call to address any questions, concerns or needs.

The Need To Know

Cancellation Policy

1. We require sixty (60) days notice in writing prior to the arrival of tenants at the villa in order for us to refund deposit(s) paid. The final balance of rental is due forty five (45) days prior to the tenant’s arrival at the villa and where cancellation is made within this period the entire rental is forfeited.

2. Should a booking, made under forty five (45) days prior to the client’s arrival, be cancelled, the entire amount paid by the client is forfeited.

We reserve the right to cancel the booking and the deposit is forfeited if the balance of rental is not paid forty five (45) days prior to client’s arrival date.

Please note Rates, length of stay, payment and cancellation policies vary for Christmas and New Year Bookings and Bookings in excess of 28-days. During the period 20th December to 10th January (or any other Specially Designated period) bookings shall not be accepted on behalf of the Owner for periods of less than 14 days- unless otherwise expressly agreed. Payment by the guest to the Company of the deposit equal to 50% of the total rental fee is required to confirm such a booking and payment of the remaining 50% is required 60 days prior to the arrival of the Client. All payments for reservations during this period are non-refundable.

A 10% processing fee will be charged on any refund for a cancelled booking or part thereof.

Per TICO regulations client understands that Private Villa Rentals does not offer travel cancellation insurance or any medical or emergency expense insurance. However, this is available through other avenue and strongly recommended.

Booking Terms

50% Deposit at time of reservation. Final payment due 90 days prior to arrival. All deposits are final and non- refundable. We accept cheque or bank transfer to our TICO Travel Industry Trust Account.

All Christmas and New Years “Festive Season” Reservations booked between December 14-January 10 are non-refundable.
